Disaster Relief

I'm sure everyone has already heard about my neighboring town, but for those of you living under a rock Moore, Oklahoma was struck and destroyed by an EF5 that reached over two miles in diameter with wind speeds in excess of 200 mph, and was on the ground for 50 minutes while leveling over 30 square miles of homes and businesses. Dozens of people have been killed and hundreds are being treated in the hospitals while many more are homeless, and to top it all off our ass wipe federal politicians are dragging their feet about sending aid.

Anyway, I've got a branch of Team Portlight coming to stay with us while they work relief efforts in Moore, and I plan to travel in with them afternoons after work or all day when I'm able to (starting tomorrow). Search and rescue teams are still scouring the ruins, and will be for several days yet. It's going to take months to clear out the wreckage, and I'll be intensively involved in the effort for at least several weeks so posts will be slow. I'll be on every now and then to check in, but I probably wont be very active.

There was another rash of Tornado outbreaks tonight (5/31/13), and some of the same areas affected by last week's tornadoes were hit again, as were several new. Now that tornado conditions have dissipated we're facing floods. So I'll be back to gone again.
