Duality.
The word that supposes an opposite to an initial entity or action. The Duality of man and beast stems from the roots of Vice and Virtue, and it was clear as day, that Vice consumed his mind. For as long as he can remember, that's all it's been: A constant battle between Vice and Virtue. Whether it be the choice to give food to the young and elderly after a good hunt, or choosing to rip an innocent's throat out and bathe in the blood that followed, duality has always been a factor. By no means was this demon inside of him let Azrael forget that Duality is in fact his very being; his sole reason for existing. There needed to be balance, and as of late, there weren't many points on the Vice side since entering Purgatory. The demon knew his ins and outs. He knew every tactical plan there would, could and can be made to eradicate his existence, and Azrael knew that if the demon got control, that he'd have to live with that for the rest of his afterlife.
He stood atop the mountains like an eagle waiting for it's prey in the valleys below, simply breathing. The stale, dead air still lingered, but he ignored it. It was worth the stench for some peace and quiet to think things through and establish a plan. Raging at his conscious, the demon's voice echoed throughout the remnants of Azrael's solitude.
Unleash me. What have you got to lose? You're already dead, so it won't matter much. You don't know what happens if you die here, but I won't let you find out. That's for damn sure.
Azrael continued his breathing and paid no mind to the demon until a voice shattered his serenity once more.
Do you not understand that if you have my power, you can annihilate ALL and EVERYTHING that stands in your path? Legions of these fools can be laid to waste! Blood can be lapped up by the river full, and bathed in, shrieks of anguish can riddle your ear drums, hoards at your command just by sheer fear alone and you want to sit atop mountains and meditate, instead of move them?!
Silence yourself, demon. In all honesty, I've been trying to figure out what exactly to do with you.
The demon grew restless and suddenly, out of the darkness, Azrael saw as his pack was laid to waste. Innocents were being slaughtered left and right, while all he sees is a manifestation of what would happen when the demon took over.
Shuddering slightly, Azrael called to the demon, Leave me be! I don't want blood on my hands unless it's absolutely necessary!
Spineless. You'd think after all of that, you'd want more power, but no, you're useless to me.
Anger welled up at this moment
What are you going to do? Be a messenger boy for every new person in Purgatory?
Shut up!
Walk the rest of this pathetic life trying to "atone" for your sins?!
Those were not my sins, they were yours!!
All I've got is motive, lad. I want power, and I know you do too.
I want peace. Not power.
YOU WANT POWER, DON'T YOU?!
Silence.
Silence rang out as the duality shifted paragons, and the evil slunk to the surface in the aftermath. Azrael opened his eyes to see nothing but darkness and the figure of a wolf staring at the open scenery he was in moments ago, except he realized it was himself, but that didn't seem right.
Oh...Shit....
The wolf looked backward and smirked.
Yeah...'oh, Shit' Is probably more than what most people are going to be able to say after I'm finished.
Suddenly, ever vigilant, the demon looked around for signs of life, hoping to get the jump on some poor creature, toy with them and then slowly rip them apart. He hopped from stone to stone, down the face of the mountain. Eagerly, he sniffed the stale air, picking up the scent of another. Smirking, he dashed East bound, careful not to give himself away. This would be fun indeed, and Vice would get to play for once.
Hmm....."Vice"....I like that.

That last part was spontaneous xD
