Like any other place Hell had a certain rhythm to it. Surviving comfortably was simply a matter of finding one’s way among the beat. Raw power and brute strength reigned supreme, laws were nonexistent. Those with the mettle to do so did as they pleased without repercussion.
Dagonet didn’t much like the place, but there was a certain beauty to it all the same. Pure, raw nature expanded in every direction; barren soil and rock and ash. The very bones and entrails of the world lain bare for all to see, glistening in the night. A landscape so desolate and cruel it was almost perfect; the antithesis of survival. Every mountain waiting to boil over, every drop of water tainted by decrepit filth; even the air was laced with toxic fume. In the distance he could hear the arena's great wall of flames cackling, keeping a legion of monstrous Colosseum contenders at bay.
It was no less comfortable than the vast majority of Dagonet’s life on earth had been, though arguably more perilous given that now there were other creatures dominating the food chain. He took it all in stride, as was his nature, having made up his mind to be content with his lot in un-life. For the time being he was full enough, wasn’t too thirsty, and for all intents and purposes the wounds he’d incurred in a previous, ill-thought venture were healed. It was warmer than he would have liked, but if that was the length of his complaints Dagonet considered himself fortunate.
Besides, his days here in hell were numbered. It was only a matter of time before he and Dragunov solved the riddle, found the magic trick that would unlock the realms. The Pledge was made, cast across the vastness of hell to summon all those who cared to watch the Turn play out; and now the were preparing for the Prestige. The grand finale that would bring the whole act to a crescendo, and leave the audience speechless in their seats scarcely believing what they had seen.
Now it was time to wait.

Laying down was the only way I could think of too relax my strained and tender muscles. I landed in a ‘huff’ when my stomach touched the cold earth under me. Within a couple of minutes my yellow eyes started to slowly close and I drifted off…………
I could see the whole world from here! I lowered myself to the ground, my tail wagging happily and excitedly as I was preparing to jump. “Alue, Get down from there this instant!” My mother’s voice rang through my ears which lowered in submission quickly, my tail rushed in-between my legs. “Yes mother” I said quietly, my voice filled with disappointment. Leaping on a small rock beside me I ran to my mother. She looked down at me and smiled, lowering her dome to lick me clean. Though when her tongue touched my cheek, her head shot up and looked around, sniffing the air around her. She quickly picked me up by the scruff and ran me to the nearest bush, “Now stay there, and no matter what happens. Don’t move.” She spoke quickly, I could hear the fear and anger in her voice. I lowered myself to the ground and waited for my mother to return…..But she never did. I spent the night in the little bush, but when I woke up I decided to disobey my mother. As I walked to the den there was a stench that almost burned my nose. Shaking my dome in disgust I kept walking, finding blood puddles all over the cave. My golden eyes went wide I walked slowly to the first pile of blood, and that was when I knew. My mother wasn’t coming back, and I would never see my sisters and brothers again.
The flashback of my pup hood vanished quickly and changed to another dramatic past.
Wolves were rushing towards me, my fellow pack members growling as they rushed towards the other pack…The Underdoor. My eyes narrowed as a wolf jumped at me, Instinctively I jumped out of the way and turned sharply towards the attacking wolf. A smirk playing across my lips. She jumped at my feet, but I snapped at her at the same instant, grabbing her muzzle in-between my jaws. She yipped in pain, and as I was about to release her to grab for her jugular, her brother leapt on me and bit my back. I growled and leapt of his sister and snapped at his sides, trying to grab a hold of flesh to rip him off of me. When I finally got him down, and pinned him, was when I saw my family being killed. My mate had just lost his life to the leader or the Underdoor, and my two year old pups were also killed during the battle. I looked around me and saw that my pack was diminishing. I growled and snapped at the wolf’s jugular and waited for him to stop struggling. Then I took off, knowing that there were too many wolves to fight off. Finding myself lost in emotion, feeling trapped, vulnerable, and guilty for not being able to help my pack and family.
The dream quickly vanished as my eyes flashed open. Fresh tears rolled down my cheeks as the memories flooded my brain. Though that was only two events that happened in my past, I was soon glad that it didn’t play through my whole life. Yes I lost my mother and siblings, I even lost my mate and pups…But I also lost many friends and another lover during my life period…And it all happened because of me. Though another memory seemed to push through the mental boundaries I tried to put up.
It was a nice summer’s day, the birds were singing, the aroma of blossomed flowers filled the air as I walked along the forest. A small bark was heard behind an old oak tree. Tilting my head in curiosity at the sound I let my feet carry me to the oak. A small brown pup appeared to be barking at a squirrel in the tree. I held back a laugh as I watched, though the pup heard me anyway. It turned toward me and barked at me, its little tail in-between its legs. My eyes softened as I looked at the pup that reminded me of my own that I had lost in the battle. I lowered myself to the ground and smiled “Little one, I’m not going to hurt you.” My voice soft as it slipped off my tongue. The pup looked at me and immediately started wagging its tail. “I’m Saba!” It barked, appearing to be overjoyed on meeting a new creature to communicate or play with. I looked around, expecting a mother to come around the corner and snap at me for being so close to the pup. With the thought I looked back down, “Where is your mother and father?” I asked, still scanning the area carefully. When my attention went back to the pup it seemed to frown, its tail seemed to droop. “Dead,” the pup squeaked. My eyes closed at the words. A few flashbacks of my mother clouded my vision. I shook my head to escape the mental picture and focused back on the pup, nudging it with my nose. It seemed like it was old enough to not rely on its mother’s milk. With that thought I took a breath and smirked. “Would you like to stay with me, little one?” I asked, pressing my nose against its shoulder.
The pleasant memory put aside my sad feelings for the past visions and tried to feel the warmth that Saba had brought into my life, even though she lived longer then my family, she also met the same fate. Her life was in the hands of another wolf, and it was my fault because I was the one who the wolf wanted to get too, and it saw that Saba was the easiest way to get to me that would hurt me more than killing or injuring me. The saddest part was that the wolf was right, because right after that, I stayed away from wolves entirely, that way no one could get hurt because of me.
I shook my dome as I tried to shake off the memories and realization. I rose from my position and walked towards the woods, eyes scanning the area ready for a attack at any moment. When inhaling a deep breath a familiar scent tickled my nostrils. Ears pricked and a small smirk played across my lips as I made my way towards the familiar scent. A dark figure started to reveal itself to me, and as I came closer recognition soon took place. Standing downwind I came half way out of the shadows, “Tis a pleasure to see you again.” I said coolly and truthfully. Golden eyes taking his appearance in, He was an attractive brute, and there was something in his eyes that was interesting, he seemed strong and wise at the same time. What got me curious was what deed did he achieve to accept the fate of Hell.

Dagonet surveyed his forebodingly austere surroundings with an air of disinterest as he prowled across the cracked earth. It was an unusually quiet…morning, after noon, evening? He had long ago given up trying to keep track of the time here. With nothing but an endless expanse of red sky above them it was near impossible to tell; and it didn’t really matter, anyway. The passage of time had never been of much concern to Dagonet, and now that he roamed the reaches of the afterlife it was even less so. What did time mean to a dead man?
But even without paying mind to the hours and minutes dragging endlessly on Dagonet was bored near out of his wits. So much so that he had begun entertaining the idea of breaking his own rule and seeking out a brawl. The sky had lightened and darkened twice since he had parted from Dragunov’s company, and absolutely nothing of any interest whatsoever had occurred since. Since his arrival Dagonet had slain several of Hell’s native creatures; they seemed wary of him now, keeping there distance ever since he’d left the noxious volcanic slopes.
It was, perhaps, a combination of bored neglect for his surroundings and the warm breeze moaning through the tors that allowed the not entirely unfamiliar female to catch him unawares. With the wind sweeping her scent well out of range Dagonet did not sense anything until the female announced her presence with a cool remark.
Despite being caught unawares Dagonet rounded calmly in time to see a familiar lupine face emerging from the shadows. She had been the first creature he had crossed paths with after having awoken in Purgatory, but having only encountered her in passing no name came immediately to mind. Few words had passed between them, and he couldn’t quite recall if names had been among them.
After a moment spent studying her Dagonet lowered his head briefly in way of greeting before reassuming his dignified posture, “I don’t believe I caught your name when we last met,” he spoke with a tone of apology shadowing his words, a faint smile quirking back the corner of his black mouth as he gazed at the female, “if you told me I apologize. Dying was a little disorienting,” he finished with a soft chuckle, flicking his tail once from side to side in a display of good humor.

I didn’t know what to think of this brute, but he was interesting. His movements were thorough and well balanced. His muscles flexed normally at everything slight movement. He seemed to be a wolf that knew his strength and acted like a wolf rather than the ones that cower away and act like foolish pups. Shaking my head I focused back on reality, his words echoing through my ears.
“I don’t believe I caught your name when we last met,”
Golden green eyes studied him and I nodded in acknowledgment, “My calling is Alue A’meastra, Alue if you please.” My words soft and cold as it rolled off my tongue. He sounded apologetic, but it was unimportant, he knew me name now, I didn’t believe I did give him my name, I don’t think I got his either, but this encounter will surly change that.
“if you told me I apologize. Dying was a little disorienting,”
His next words made me smirk, ”No need to apologize, I understand the situation.” I said with a nod of my head. He was a bit out of it when I ran into him in the Purgatory lands. How could this brute have died? I thought to myself curiosity bright in my eyes as they darted to his own eyes as if the answers were there. I walked towards him, revealing my full appearance, battle scars scattered across my body, though the scars across my eye and muzzle were the most noticeable. My eyes scanned his body looking for scars of his own, or something to go on with. He didn’t look like he would attack me, but I quickly went back to alert and looked for his weaknesses in case there was a fight.

“Alue,” Dagonet repeated softly, testing her name on his tongue and igniting a spark of familiarity. A handsome smile slithered across his muzzle and Dagonet flowed forward boldly, closing what distance remained between them in a single stride until they were all but touching, “Alue A’Meastra, no?” his voice rose ever so slightly in volume as he brushed past, gliding down her side with his molten amber gaze lingering on Alue’s.
With ranks comprised of wolves who had fought and died side by side in life, Dragunov’s blossoming army functioned with cold military fluidity though only just stirring from the ashes. Within mere hours of parting company with Dragunov and Zero, foundations lain for an uprising that would span realms, Dagonet was approached by Vyxion bearing a roster of new comers to the rebellion. With leadership currently scattered to the winds for recruitment it was crucial to maintain a reliable means of communication. For the time being underling pack members were used to run messages between commanding officers, but soon their army would carve a vast network of communication, one that would span the for corners of hell and beyond.
Dagonet paced around Alue in a tight circle, all the while less than a hair’s breadth away, he scrutinized her intensely, taking in every visible aspect from the scars marring her coat to the way she reacted to his bold encroachment into her personal space. His gaze fixated on Alue intensely as he weighed and measured her potential and worth to their forming army. She was a sturdy female, that much was clear. Her figure was battle marked from head to tail, not superficial scrapes but wounds inflicted in the heat of battle.
Most females Dagonet never examined twice as threat if he even considered it a possibility in the first place. Bred from a long line of revered warriors, he was a king among his species, towering head and shoulders above the average wolf and wrought head to toe with cords of lean, raw muscle. Few females would have stood a chance against him in combat, much less pose any real threat to his well being. Alue, however, was not an average female. Very much like the females from his homeland, her height and build were more akin to that of a male but without lending her a masculine appearance. A very attractive female indeed.
After pacing around her once Dagonet sauntered past Alue, letting his amber eyes turn once more to her golden ones, “Our newest recruit,” he paced a foot or so past before turning smoothly to face Alue once more, extending his right paw forward and lowering his head in a shallow bow “I’m Dagonet Stormcrow,” he introduced himself, straightening to his full height, “Dragunov’s second in command. Welcome to the ranks.”

The sound of my name forming on his tongue made my eyes lighten slightly. When his body barely brushed mine, my eyes hardened giving no emotion, just looking into his own eyes as a silent curiosity yet a dare. My body unmoving except my my breathing diaphragm and eyes. As he walked past me, I could feel his eyes on me, studying me.
I didn’t know much about this arrangement, but I did know it was a war for the wolves in Hell to be free. Which one would think why i would care, since I am in neither Hell nor Heaven. Though, that was my knowledge to keep, and for one to get such information must earn my trust. looking at this wolf I could see that he truly believed in what he was fighting for, that there was an actual reason besides the bloodshed. When I ran into Vyxion he seemed to only be about power and blood, made me wonder if he truly thought there was a real reason for this, or he just wanted in for more power and blood.
As the brute circled me, my eyes followed him tentatively. Watching every movement of his body and breathing, waiting for the quick inhale before leaping or snapping. I didn’t have the feeling he was going to, but that’s the thing, it’s always mind games, and you never want to be too trusting. When he came up to my neck I snapped my jaws together, making a loud clicking sound of my kanines, a quick act as if I was going to bite him, but after the effect one would know it was one purpose to miss. Green eyes brightened as I studied his reaction . Making him know that as he was analyzing me, he had two eyes on him as well.
Dagonet looked like the kind of wolf who would lead a war, and become victorious. One thing I have come to notice is that he hasn’t let his power reach his head, which is a very good characteristic, especially if this is a wolf I may follow and protect in war. If I am risking my life, I am going to make sure it is for something I believe, not anyone else’s power or order. Between Vyxion and Dagonet from my knowledge so far they have about equal strength, though when it came down to it who would win a battle. If there is one thing I know about a bunch of wolves forming into one. There will be fights within the group for power, and that is a waste of my time as well as the wolves who are serious about the reason of the war.
The brute’s lyrics then filled my ears, and I raised a brow. Thinking of what he said I nodded to myself. Hearing his full name and title i smirked and nodded, dipping my dome slightly towards him. ”It’s a pleasure, Dragonet.” I said with a pause, then added, ”Once wolves with in this group start fighting each other for power, i’m out. I am being loyal to you and the purpose of this war, but once things are drifting from that very reason, then I have no more loyalty for fighting for something I don’t agree with.” My lyrics hard and straight to the point. Golden green orbs studied his face and body, and I could feel a pleased smirk play across my lips. as I walked past him, my body just barely brushing against his own. After a couple feet I stopped and turned my head towards him halfway, ”Glad to you see you living in the realm of death.” My lyrics rolled off my tongue like a cold honey.

Under most other circumstances Dagonet never would have tolerated such audacity from a subordinate, but this was an appraisal. Formality would come later.
His ears pricked towards the sound of her voice as he rounded to face her. She’s a plain spoken female, this one, Dagonet remarked silently as he settled in front of her. A sardonically amused smile coiled back his lip faintly, exposing the tip of one meticulously hewn fang. A’Meastra knew exactly what she wanted and harbored no qualms about voicing her desires - an admirable quality. Dagonet knew how to use wolves like her. Strong willed creatures who could think and act independently, but understood the value of loyal. She would make a competent soldier; praise that did not come lightly from the veteran warrior - certainly not of females.
Dagonet squared his shoulders faintly as Alue padded forward, gliding near until standing at his withers. Amusement gleamed in his smoldering eyes as she stepped coolly past, all but touching his coat just as he had done her earlier, “Glad to see you living in the realm of death.”
A soft chuckle rumbled deeply in Dagonet’ s chest, “You won’t find such dissent among our ranks,” he smiled, taking an easy step forward and leaning his weight to the side, pushing his shoulder firmly against her side and brushing past, “no creature would dare attempt to usurp Dragunov,” he said, stretching languidly as he stepped away from her, taught coils of muscle rippling beneath his thick coat.
“We are no mere pack,” Dagonet explained, turning to face Alue again, “Pack’s are weak, unsustainable. Members turn on one another and destroy themselves. This is an army. There is no competing for power. Our soldiers are loyal, assigned to rank by merit of strength and ability. So tell me, Alue. What is it you desire?”
