"Damn it!" I grumbled. My voice ended up squeaking at the end and sounded a bit more hoarse than usual. It seemed like I was contracting some mild cold but the odd part was that the rest of me felt perfectly fine. “Ack…ahem.” I cleared my throat for a moment and rolled over onto my side with a huff. The moon hung in the sky and i tilted my head until it looked kind of like a toe nail. I groaned and shifted my body around. Dull golden eyes closed as I went back to thinking about my dream. Or…at least I was trying to. I remembered…a field. One that closely resembled one of that I was in not more than a few days ago. But something odd was going on. Like…a smell. That’s right…now I remember. There was the smell of burning wood all around me, blurring my vision and stinging my eyes.
I ran deep in the woods trying to find a way out, any way that could tear me apart from the growing agitation in my throat and the sound of sharp ringing in my ears. The cracking of trees, and the cawing of frightened crows. It was all getting a little bit to much to handle but I couldn’t make it stop. I felt…helpless. Something that I havent felt in a while because I knew I was in control of most of my situations. Well…that’s just what I thought, no matter what anyone else around me said. My paws skidded to a stop and leaned back on my heels not quite in a sit but no longer standing straight up . My ears flattened slowly and the scenery around me could be reflected through my eyes like a horror movie. Once vivid yellow eyes now turned red by the reflection of the flaming embers tearing the ground that I stood upon apart. Quite literally infact. I looked down with my eyes flashing from one foot to another. The ground was indeed splitting on its own right down the middle and that’s when the laughing came. First it was a low chuckle and then a loud mechanical and menacing laugh echoed above my head. I re-gained my footing and stood up straight. It was there. Maybe not it but I didn’t who it was. A girl? Boy? Was it even a wolf? I didn’t know. But as my mind tried to grasp hold of these thoughts swarming and bogging down my concentration, the eyes which glowed brighter than the fire…brighter than the sun itself stared down at me from what looked like the top of a cliff. My jaw dropped slightly and I felt myself about to say something but it wouldn't have mattered. My voice was lost in the sound of the ground giving way below me and that was it. I fell. I fell into a dark hole that just seemed to go on forever. Eventually I saw the ground below me and as I was just about to hit the ground--
I woke up.
My body, rigid and tremoring from the night terror that I just experienced, jolted upright with a feeling of urgency. My nails were digging in the ground repeatedly and I felt hot all over. This was getting ridiculous… how old was I and I was STILL having nightmares? My head shook and I growled a bit under my breath. Not out of anger, but rather frustration. I didn’t get what was the problem here or why the same dream kept coming to me but it had to stop. Soon. Did you ever get the feeling that you were falling and you had no control over it. You wanted to get out but…you just couldn’t find the way out? Well that’s what I was still feeling. The sense of myself falling into nothing. And my mother always told me that I had to wake up before I hit the ground. Because if that happened…you just never woke up again. Growing more and more agitated by the second I finally lifted to my feet with a grunt and shook my body, which in turn caused bits of sand and dirt to scatter about the area. My breath came out in small huffs as I made an attempt to re-gain my stature. I wasn’t some pup that constantly needed to be babied and comforted anymore. I was an adult now, and I was going to handle it as such.
Pft, if anyone knew me I bet they’d laugh at that statement. My head turned from side to side as I looked around and finally I decided to talk a walk. It was better than sitting here all day and running the risk of falling back asleep. My body lowered off of the slab of rock being hidden by a bit of shrubbery and I stretched out. The sand below my feet felt weird to me as I started sauntering towards the shoreline. Just then my stomach found the perfect time to interrupt my thoughts and rumbled. ”Hm.” I scrunched my nose as I thought of the idea of getting something to eat. I wanted to but at the same time I didn’t want to. It was a lot of work to do that, but yeah, I was a bit hungry. I sighed letting my breath out slowly. I walked until I was near a string of rocks that seemed to reach out into the ocean for about a yard or two. My paws slowed down as the sand still caught in-between my paw pads started to make itself known while I walked along the mini trail of rock. I wasn't too fond of the feeling but let it rock anyway. Not like there was much I could do to remedy the problem. Eyes, head, and shoulders were low when the trail started to become narrow to a point of which I couldn’t walk anymore. On either side of me water crashed up against the rock and I found myself backing up a bit. Me and water was like mixing fire with ice...just didnt go together. Wouldn't wanna make the mistake of falling in. I lowered my body until i was stretched out on my stomach on the rock and closed my eyes. I was going to get some decent sleep tonight whether the universe wanted me to or not.

At any rate, this is happiness. To be dissolved into something pure and great.

It had been so long since her legs had stretched. It felt like years had passed since the pads on her paws actually touched solid ground, countless months since her nostrils flared to take in scents and weeks upon weeks since her eyes had flicked about and looked at her surroundings. She rose herself up from the ground, groggily blinking up at the hellish sunshine that gave a little bit of dank brightness to the mouth of the cave she had apparently been sleeping in. Or maybe she had just appeared here. Claudia had no idea, but she figured she would never know anyways.
What was more important was what the hell she was doing back alive. It had been almost certain she had died after what had happened in that last cave. As she thought about that last little flicker of memory she had, she flinched, startled, picking herself up with the speed of someone who was for sure dead. She looked around, breathing heavy, wondering if he was still around. Would he come back for her? Maybe she was still alive. But the wound in her neck didn't hurt anymore, the one he had taken his large, brutish mouth to. She craned her neck up, feeling her new skin, and noting that it stretched and flexed just as it had before the attack.
Was it a dream, then?
Claudia shivered. What the hell was this place? Was she alive or dead? A small pain began blossoming in her head and she cringed. This was all giving her a headache. She began to stretch out her bodice, letting her cool hazel eyes take in the surroundings around her. She was in some sort of wasteland, somewhere she hadn't exactly expected to end up in. The last place she had remembered was a forest, and now she was in a place that didn't exactly look much different, but it was definitely different in the minute details. The white maned wolf craned her neck from side to side, a frustrated confusion beginning to tug at her chest. Goddamn, where am I? She asked herself repeatedly.
A lone figure was walking through, or at least that's what Claudia could smell. There was, at the very least, one other living soul here and she didn't know if it was exactly a good idea to approach them. But the idea that she could smell them but couldn't see them already bothered Claudia enough to look, and thus, she got up off her rump and began poking her head through the trees. Fifteen minutes or so passed, and the night sky was beginning to settle into the dark, gangly trees. The wasteland was beginning to hum it seemed, with the dark species that roamed at night. "Shit," Claudia murmured to herself, trying to keep herself calm.
There. She spotted the dark figure lying down, and she seemed motionless. Was she dead? Or just asleep? Claudia stared at her for a few moments, questioning whether or not she should touch her. God, this land was strange, and she had no idea what to do. It was as if any good idea she had went straight out the window.

The scent of a new wolf tickled my nose as I inhaled a new breath of fresh air. Eyes quickly opened revealing the golden green eyes that hid behind the lids. The fae was quickly seen and a low growl of frustration vibrated in my throat. Out of all days why does it have to be today that I don’t detect when a wolf is near. I am usually very good at it, but I am not myself today, which is why I should be more cautious than not be. I shook my dome as I closed my eyes again, breathing in the wolf’s scent as I heard her stop in her tracks. The wolf seemed confused and probably second guessing herself in her mind, for reasons I know not.
The scent of the wolf was still there as well as the sound of her breathing. I took in another breath and opened my eyes again. Rolling myself from the ground I faced her. Head down, hiding my neck and I took two steps towards her before stretching out my back and trail, my fur bristling as the relief of muscles relaxed. Turning my attention back to the wolf I smirked, studying her carefully from talon to ear. ”Are you lost, or just walking about?” I asked, my lyrics welcoming but cold as it rolled off my tongue.
Green eyes took in the wolf once again. She didn’t look much of a fighter, but she wasn’t weak. She was lean yet well muscled. Pleased with the wolf that stood before me I dipped my dome slightly , ”And what did you mother name you?” I asked, head tilted faintly to the side as I lowered my haunches on the ground, tail curling over my hind paw. Memories of my dream floated to the top of my head, but I threw the thought in the back of my mind and locked it.
