Did we just stop in the middle of fucking nowhere? What the hell? Still grimacing, I managed to open my eyes, and all I saw was a bunch of gray. What? I slowly sat up, doing so slowly because I was expecting to have a headache, but nothing happened. I felt fine, excluding lingering soreness from however I’d been sprawling when I was sleeping.
That’s when I noticed I was alone. I swiveled myself around, expecting to see, or at least smell my darling somewhere around here, but she was gone. So were the kids. And I was sitting in the middle of this rotting wasteland that sure as hell looked like nothing I’d ever seen before. That’s when I remembered that I should be terribly ill with sickness, not sitting up and completely coherent.
What the fuck?
I didn’t understand. This had to be a dream, I must still be asleep or something because none of this made any sense. Knowing I had to figure out what the hell was going on, I started forward, eyes scanning the dead, twisted trees for any signs of life. I made my way cautiously, slightly uncomfortable because I knew nothing of this terrain. I had no idea how the hell I’d gotten here. Who knows, maybe I’d found some crazy shit to eat and gotten high as a kite, maybe that’s how I got here. But my gut instinct told me that it was something else entirely, I just didn’t know what.
The last thing I remember was Joaquin telling me that she’d be back, she was going to do a little hunting. She’d been wary of me, knowing very well that by having any contact with me could be her certain death. I understood. I stayed away as much as possible, though the kids didn’t quite understand. Wanting to numb the pain that’d been spreading through my body, I’d wandered away to find some shrooms. And find them I did. That was it. That was all I remembered. As hard as I tried, there was just a fuzzy wall that wouldn’t give, that wouldn’t provide any more information. That was normal; I never remembered half the things I did when I was baked, but the problem was that there was nothing else on the other side of it.
It made me uneasy. And Crouse never likes being uneasy.
ooc: Someone join the oh-so-lovely Crouse. :3

Lengthy limbs carried her slender frame through the desolate forest, gracefully weaving between the masses of rotting wood sprouting from the earth. Paws pressed into the terra silently as if tip toeing to avoid being noticed. It was inevitable though, her pure white coat a blemish against the dreary backdrop. Truthfully she could care less who caught a glimpse of her. She was oddly comfortable with her new life, if that's what it could be called, and was now determined to find her place amongst the dead.
First on the agenda was to explore this "Purgatory". This deceased forest was not one she had wandered to in the past, and she figured it was about time she put up with the rotting stench and learned the ins and outs of it, if that were even possible in this strange new world. This was a quiet place only having met a single male during her time here, the one who informed her of her status amongst the living was no more. There were no longer expectations of bumping into another during her travels, and this is why she was so surprised to catch the muffled sound of a voice in the distance. Motion ceased momentarily, a single fore-paw hovering mid step. Slightly pointed auditories trained themselves upon the distant sound in an attempt to decipher what was being said and by who. There was no more than a single phrase, yet the light rustling of movement was noted. It seemed that there was only a single individual.
Curiosity may have killed the cat, but this feline thrived on it. Her path twisted toward the voice, frame low to the earth as she stalked forward. She hated having to be wary of her surroundings, it wasn't something she could ever remember. Yet this new world could hold many surprises that she had not witnessed. It didn't take long before the canine came into view, the hollowness of the land had made the voice seem much further than it truly was. Distance was kept, leanly muscled haunches lowering themselves to the stale ground as she found a good view. An icy gaze locked upon the confused male as he attempted to get his bearings. It was obvious that he was also a new comer and wasn't quite sure as to where he was or how he had gotten here. This was her only days prior.
A small smirk tainted pale lips, the evil within dancing vaguely within the corners. The confusion and frustration that seemed to radiate from the wolf was most amusing to the hybrid. She allowed him to dwell within his own mind for some time, the tip of her tail flickering to and fro in appeared boredom. Finally her voice rang out across the distance, the notes sweet and deceptively angelic as they touched the strangers ears, "Have you lost something...or some one?" The devilish smirk transformed into something much more sympathetic and sweet as the words touched her tongue. The actress was at it again. Old habits die hard.
((OOC: Sorry so crappy....my muse is dwindling tonight))

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,400,true] | [atrb=background,http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn15/stephers1995/Crouse---MIDDLE.png] The oddest aspect about this situation? How dead everything felt. No chirping of birds. No rustling of hares, moles, or any other rodent creature. The wind wasn’t even stirring, making it difficult to taste any other scent on the air except that unpleasant smell of decay. The creamy fur on my nose scrunched up in displeasure, my eyes growing harder with every step.
Thanks to the lack of wind, I didn’t sense the bitch coming up on me. I had no fucking clue until I heard her, causing me to startle slightly before swiveling around to face her. I swore under my breath, and then added in a few more words when I realized what exactly I was facing. Some kind of cat. I’d seen one once, not too long ago actually. But I hadn’t been able to understand the thing; we’d sent warnings to each other, making it clear to the other that one was to stay away. The fight wouldn’t have turned out well for either of us, and we knew it.
My eyes flicked around the area, making sure it was just the two of us. So she had spoken to me? What the hell? “You can talk? What the hell? Since when could a damn cat learn how to speak?” This situation was getting more strange by the second. I held my ground, though I wanted nothing more than to put distance between the two of us. I didn’t must trust wolves, much less a creature of another species. However, I would show no weakness; that was not how Crouse did things. Instead, I remained where I was, my hackles bristling and eyes glistening with enough warning.
