Hey guys!
So, question for all of you! One of my life long goals is to be fluent in at least three different languages.
Obviously, I got one down haha. Yay English. My mother speaks Indonesian though and that would be one of the easiest ones to add to my list since she is a great resource haha.
I'm not sure if I want to learn Chinese, Japanese, Korean or a western language like Spanish or German. I want to be prepared to handle the growing globalization but...there are so many to choose from. Which one do you think will be the most useful?

I'd say Spanish just because of the area we live in. I can't go anywhere without seeing Hispanics, so being able to communicate with them on a day-to-day basis would be important.
But it also depends on what you wanna do with your life. If you wanna travel to a certain place, it'd be best to learn their language. Or if you're like, an International Studies major, it'd be best to learn more than that, maybe.
I also think that learning one of the Romantic languages (Spanish, Italian, French) would be easiest since they share similarities to English. With Chinese and the like, it'd be a completely different ball game.

I was thinking along the same lines as you, but economist predict that by 2030, the asian economies will rise above the western world and be the new powerhouses just as they were back in the what. 1500s? Not sure on the date, but you get the point. That is why I considered some of the asian languages over the latin based ones. I'm probably going to major in science though haha, be an engineer of some sort, but I know I would be in a good position if I could communicate well in other languages.

D'awww, Lulu. x3 I didn't know that, about the Asian countries. That's certainly something to think about. I dunno, go with whatever feels right to you! And whatever University you end up going to is sure to offer multiple languages, so play around with classes to learn different stuff. ^^

I'm taking Japanese- I honestly think it's just fun language xD And ya never know where life'll take you, ya know. :PP Japanese is a little complex, but at the same time, like I said, is really fun! O:
